Lukashenko proposes creating joint venture for diamond cutting in Magadan region
MINSK. May 20 (Interfax) - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has proposed to Magadan regional authorities to create a joint venture for processing Magadan diamonds in Belarus, state agency BelTA reported.
"Belarus has clearly established legislation in the field of assay supervision and the circulation of jewelry. We have maintained the Kristall jewelry plant in Gomel since Soviet times. The company has many years of experience working with precious metals and stones. It produces a wide range of products, including jewelry using Belarusian-cut diamonds," Lukashenko said at a meeting with Governor of the Magadan Region Sergei Nosov.
During the meeting, issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and the Magadan region were also discussed, Nosov said on his Telegram channel.
"This concerns the engineering sector, industrial cooperation with our production facilities, supplies of equipment, consumer goods and food," the governor said.
He said that Belarus is ready to set up production of dairy products made from its raw materials in the Magadan region, and is also offering to begin processing fish from the Russian region in Belarus.
"We also discussed summer holidays for our children in the republic's health centers and the mutual development of tourism," Nosov said.
