Interfax signs memorandum with Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
KAZAN. May 17 (Interfax) - The Interfax Group and the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Union of OIC News Agencies) signed a memorandum of cooperation at Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum.
The document provides for the mutual exchange of open-source news content by the parties and coverage of key events concerning relations between Russia and OIC countries, as well as interaction in the exchange of expertise and public-domain financial, business and corporate information data and creation of digital systems for businesses.
The parties agreed to consider organizing joint information projects, discuss exchanging knowledge and experience, enhancing management and establishing cultural ties between media, and the need for the broadest technical cooperation.
"We consider it necessary to expand direct contacts with media organizations in the Islamic world to satisfy the growing interests of the Russian business and expert community in the region. Evidence of this interest, for example, is the changing geography of queries about foreign companies: if recently we were being asked more frequently about European businesses, then now the top 10 most requested countries include Turkey and the UAE. And what is important is that our clients want 'first-hand' information, that is, directly from the region's countries themselves," said Andrei Oberemok, Director of the Interfax Group's Information Technology Department.
Interfax is Russia's biggest non-governmental information group. One of its main activities is working with Big Data and developing IT products for business. The group also includes the country's largest non-governmental news agency, Interfax, which specializes in online business news with the emphasis on information for prompt investment decision-making in financial markets. The agency's subscribers include the largest banks, brokers, leading Russian and foreign media and government bodies.
