Kazakhstan, Germany discuss cooperation in agriculture

ALMATY. May 15 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed prospects for cooperation in the agricultural sector with Cathrina Claas-Muhlhauser, who chairs the supervisory board at CLAAS KGaA mbH, the presidential press service said in a Wednesday press release.

"During the meeting, the sides paid special attention to cooperation in the agricultural sector. Tokayev mentioned that he had earlier proposed creating a regional center for sustainable agriculture. The president said that Germany is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union, and commended the achievements in trade and economic relations. According to Tokayev, German businesses demonstrate an interest in expanding their presence in Kazakhstan.

The president added that German investment in Kazakhstan in 2023 increased by 64% to reach a record high of $770 million.

Furthermore, the president highly appreciated the contribution of the CLASS assembly plant to the development of Kazakhstan's agricultural sector.
