Dep Energy Minister Khasenov appointed acting CEO of Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas

ASTANA. May 15 (Interfax) - Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Askhat Khasenov has been appointed as acting CEO of national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) effective May 15, the Samruk-Kazyna State Fund's press service said.

"Samruk-Kazyna CEO Nurlan Zhakupov introduced Askhat Khasenov to the team of KazMunayGas. He will be acting CEO until the date of the extraordinary general meeting of the company's shareholders," the statement reads.

The State Fund thanked Magzum Mirzagaliyev for his efforts during his tenure as head of KMG since April 2022.

Khasenov, 40, became deputy minister of energy in 2022. He had worked at KMG from 2019 to 2022.

KazMunayGas is the national operator for the exploration, production, processing, and transportation of hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan, representing the state's interests in the oil and gas industry.
