MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Kernel, one of Ukraine's largest agribusiness groups exported 1 million tonnes of sunflower oil in bulk to almost 30 countries in the first nine months of the 2023-2024 agricultural year (July 2023 to April 2024), Ukrainian media reported, citing an announcement from the agroholding on social media.
"We remain the largest agricultural exporter and are among the top 3 in terms of Ukraine's total exports," Kernel said.
The company exported 50% of its oil to India, 8% to the United Arab Emirates, 7% each to China and Spain, 5% to Italy and 2% each to Iraq, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey and Hong Kong.
"In order to expand the export opportunities of the whole sector, last year we began to offer our infrastructure capacity to other agricultural producers on the market. We provide transshipment services for grain crops and vegetable oil at the company's terminals in Odessa region," Kernel said.
Furthermore, the company is close to completing construction of an oil extraction plant in Starokonstantinov, Khmelnitsky region that it has said will be one of the largest in Europe, with capacity to process 1 million tonnes of seeds per year.
"This will make it possible to also increase exports of vegetable oil, a product with added value, and support the agricultural producers of the region by giving them an opportunity to sell products," Kernel said.
Kernel is one of Ukraine's largest producers and exporters of sunflower oil. The group also cultivates and sells other agricultural products.
