Kovalchuk appointed head of Russia's Accounts Chamber

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - The Federation Council appointed Boris Kovalchuk the head of the Russian Accounts Chamber on Tuesday.

His candidacy was proposed by the Russian president. The head of state chose Kovalchuk from a list of candidates for the job compiled by Russian senators. The others were Galina Izotova, the acting head, and Anatoly Artamonov, who chairs the Federation Council committee on the budget and financial markets.

In March, Kovalchuk became deputy head of the Control Department for the Russian president; prior to that, he was the chief executive of Inter RAO .
