Russian farmers need to reseed 500,000 ha of crops due to cold snap, this possible - ministerial candidate
MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Russian farmers need to reseed 500,000 hectares of crops due to the cold snap, Oksana Luth, who has been nominated for agriculture minister, said in the State Duma on Tuesday.
"We now have three regions that have declared a local emergency due to the cold weather and about 500,000 hectares have been lost. So far, the preliminary information is that everything needs to be reseeded on 500,000 hectares," Luth said, answering questions from deputies.
"We have the seeds. The limits that are provided for sowing, including for the upcoming reseeding, are ample. We will keep the situation under control. If it turns out there isn't enough then we will find opportunities to finance all those who need it," she said.
