Ukraine's Energoatom reports repairs at 3 NPP reactor units

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Energoatom has begun scheduled repairs of three nuclear power plant units, two of which will resume operation by the end of May and the third in June, acting Energoatom CEO Pyotr Kotin said.

"We have three reactor units under repairs. We will reconnect two of them to the grid at the end of the month. The third unit will be reconnected in mid-June," Ukrainian media quoted Kotin as telling reporters after signing a memorandum of cooperation between Energoatom and Hyundai in Kiev on Monday.

Repairs of the other reactor units will be gradually finalized, and all units will resume operation by October, he said.

Energoatom has done everything to optimize the repairs, Kotin said.

As reported, Ukraine controls nine reactor units at the South Ukrainian, Khmelnitsky and Rovno nuclear power plants with a total capacity of around 7.8GW.
