Ukraine's ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog doubles steel output in April after recommissioning another furnace

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - The ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog (AMKR) steel works in Ukraine re-commissioned its No. 6 blast furnace after an overhaul in April and boosted crude steel output 90% year-on-year to 163,000 tonnes and steel product output 95% to 152,000 tonnes.

"Output also grew compared with March 2024 - pig iron by 28% and steel and products by 31%," Ukrainian media reported, quoting the company.

In addition, coke production began at Nos. 3 and 4 coke batteries, which made it possible to increase production of steel and its products. Production of blast furnace coke increased 16% year-on-year in April, from 76,000 tonnes to 88,000 tonnes.

The Mining Department was able to significantly increase production of iron ore concentrate both year-on-year, by two-fold to 351,000 tonnes from 744,000 tonnes, and month-on-month, by 14%.

"In April, the company continued to carry out plans to increase production volumes," despite [...] energy supply restrictions," the company's press service said.

ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. It specializes in long products, in particular rebar and wire rod.
