State Duma approves Golikova as Russian deputy PM
MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - The State Duma endorsed Tatyana Golikova as Russian deputy prime minister on Monday.
In total, 362 deputies voted in favor of her candidacy and one voted against her.
Golikova delivered a report and answered questions from Duma members during the plenary session.
"A top professional is in front of you. Her effectiveness is beyond doubt; she has gone all the way from an ordinary employee to deputy prime minister," State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said following her speech.
The provisions of the program of the candidate for deputy prime minister match the goals and objectives of the Russian government as defined in the Russian presidential address to the Russian Federal Assembly on February 29, 2024, as well as those set by presidential decrees, orders and instructions, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs Yaroslav Nilov said in his turn.
Golikova as a deputy prime minister will continue to oversee the activities of the Health Ministry, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and the Culture Ministry. The Federal Agency for Interethnic Affairs will also fall under her purview, the government press service said earlier.
