Belgium to provide 9 mln euros for Ukraine's energy infrastructure

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - Belgium will provide an extra 9 million euros for repairing energy infrastructure in Ukraine, Belgian Development Cooperation Minister Caroline Gennez said last Friday.

"The Ukrainian energy infrastructure is dilapidated and too centralized, which makes it very vulnerable," Ukrainian media quoted Gennez as saying on RTBF television.

The 9 million euros is to be provided through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which has established a system for rapidly purchasing spare parts and delivering new equipment for infrastructure, while focusing on sustainable and decentralized energy sources, Gennez said.
