Lukashenko starts visit to Moscow

MINSK. May 8 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in Moscow on a working visit, the presidential press service said.

"The head of state will attend a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on May 8," the press service said.

As reported earlier, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will meet in the narrow and expanded formats. Lukashenko will present the Belarusian stance on key items on the agenda and prospects of further Eurasian integration.

The leaders are due to discuss the implementation of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council resolution dated December 11, 2020, on strategic areas of the development of Eurasian economic integration until 2025, and the achievement of key targets of international activity of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The agenda also includes the start of negotiations with Mongolia on a temporary trade agreement between the EAEU and its member states, for one side, and Mongolia, for the other side, amendments to the Eurasian Economic Commission Regulations, and the provision of information consistent with the protocol on the unified principles and rules for operation of natural monopoly entities.

The sides will discuss the signing of a protocol on the electronic exchange of information between the EAEU and its member states, for one side, and Vietnam, for the other side, within the framework of the electronic system of certification and verification of the origin of goods.

The EAEU comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The leaders of Uzbekistan and Cuba, EAEU observer states, will also take part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

According to the Belarusian presidential press service, Lukashenko and other invited heads of state will attend the military parade commemorating the 79th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and lay flowers at the Unknown Soldier's Tomb in the morning on May 9.
