Novak: Govt looking at potentially lifting ban on exporting motor gas as market is oversaturated

MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - Russia's domestic gasoline market is already oversaturated; in the near future, the government will consider the possibility of lifting the export ban in force from March through September, Russian acting Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.

"We are currently considering this issue," he said, in answer to a question from Interfax.

"The Ministry of Energy is now proposing to allow the export of gasoline for a certain period, so as not to have a shortage later. To date, the measures taken on March 1 to close down exports have worked in full. The market is saturated and even oversaturated," Novak said.

"In the near future we will consider the proposals of the Ministry of Energy in the government," he said.
