Ukreximbank to be headed by former Ukrainian Procreditbank Board Chairman Ponomarenko

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - The Supervisory Board of Ukrainian state-owned Ukreximbank elected Viktor Ponomarenko to the position of Chairman of the Board following a competitive selection process on Friday, after he had held the same position in Ukraine's Procreditbank since 2012, Ukrainian media reported, citing a press release from Ukreximbank.

"Viktor Ponomarenko will begin work as chairman of the board after his candidacy is approved by the National Bank," the press release said.

The board of Ukreximbank had been headed by Sergey Yermakov since October 2021.

Ponomarenko has been in the banking industry over 24 years, with 20 years at Procreditbank, including 12 as its board chairman.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, Ukreximbank closed out the top three banks in terms of assets (UAH 280.03 billion) among the 63 operating banks in the country, while Procreditbank ranked 15th (UAH 41.96 billion) as of March 1, 2024.

Net profit of Ukreximbank last year totaled UAH 5.23 billion, while Procreditbank saw net profit of UAH 0.7 billion.

The official exchange rate as of May 3 is 39.53 UAH/$1.
