Total of 410 communities throughout Ukraine cut off from electricity as of May 2 - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - In total, 410 communities throughout Ukraine have been cut off from electricity as of this morning, Ukrainian media reported on Thursday, citing NEC Ukrenergo.

In the early hours of May 2, Ukrenergo's high-voltage line in the central region was disconnected. There was no power outage of consumers, the line was brought back to operation by means of automatics.

The electricity is being imported during the day, except for daytime hours, from Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Moldova with a total volume of 8,471 MWh and with a peak capacity of up to 1,500 MW in some hours, Ukrenergo said.

From December 1, 2023, the technical capacity to import electricity from Europe to Ukraine and Moldova is 1,700 MW.

Thanks to the sunny weather, the electricity consumption is declining, and it was 4% lower over the past 24 hours than in the previous day, the media reported, citing the Energy Ministry's statement.

"Consumers' needs were covered by our own generation and commercial imports. Emergency assistance was not involved," the ministry said.

Due to network restrictions on the transmission system operator's lines, outage schedules were implemented in the Kharkov region and for the industry in Krivoi Rog on Wednesday. Restrictions in these regions are in place on May 2, as well.

There have been no restrictions for consumers in other regions over the past 24 hours.

Electricity imports are forecast at 8,471 MWh for the current day, the Energy Ministry said.
