UK summons Russian ambassador over suspicions of Russian malign activities in UK
LONDON. April 26 (Interfax) - The British Foreign Office has summoned Russian Ambassador Andrey Kelin, according to a press release published on the Foreign Office site on Friday.
"The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has today summoned the Russian Ambassador Andrey Kelin following allegations of Russian orchestrated malign activity on UK soil," the press release said.
"The UK remains deeply concerned by allegations of Russian orchestrated malign activity on UK soil," a Foreign Office representative was quoted as saying in the release.
The UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) earlier authorized accusations against five people of "conducting hostile activity in the UK in order to benefit a foreign state - namely Russia."
One of the suspects is a UK national.
"Dylan Earl, 20, is alleged to have engaged in conduct targeting businesses which were linked to Ukraine in order to benefit the Russian state," Nick Price, head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said.
