Ukraine's Chornomorsk port resumes handling agricultural products for export

MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - Shipments of agricultural products from the Port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine's Odessa region are gradually recovering, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement from Spike Brokers on Telegram.

The Port of Chornomorsk, one of the largest ports on the Black Sea, handled 36% of exports shipped from Ukraine by water transport in 2023, while Danube ports handled 32%, and the Odessa and Yuzhny ports handled 17% and 15%, respectively, the company said.

Rail lines to a number of grain terminals at the Port of Chornomorsk were damaged on April 11 and Ukrainian Railways imposed conventional restrictions on shipments of all cargo to Chornomorsk. The restrictions were lifted on April 22.

Chornomorsk is a universal international port with specialized terminals and complexes that can handle a wide range of cargo, including liquid, bulk and general. Before the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the port had design capacity to handle over 30 million tonnes of cargo annually.
