Segezha intends to enter Uzbekistan's market with deliveries of plywood and lumber

KRASNOYARSK. April 25 (Interfax) - Timber holding Segezha Group and the Association of Furniture and Wood Processing Industries of Uzbekistan have agreed to cooperate in developing supplies of products manufactured by the holding's enterprises to the nation's market, the press service for the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation told Interfax.

According to the corporation, which accompanied the meetings of Russian business in Tashkent, the association unites Uzbek entrepreneurs from the woodworking and furniture industries. The agreement is essentially the holding's entry into the country's market, the corporation said.

Segezha Group itself specifies that the agreement provides for regular supplies of birch plywood and dry lumber for furniture and woodworking enterprises in Uzbekistan.

Segezha Group Vice President for Government Relations, Sustainable Development and Timber Policy Nikolay Ivanov noted that the furniture industry in Uzbekistan is currently experiencing a boom. "Uzbek enterprises objectively need both our plywood and sawn timber. Segezha Group, in its turn, is ready to provide them in the required volumes," he said.

According to the holding's data, by the end of 2023 Uzbekistan was the leader among the CIS countries importing Russian plywood and sawn timber for a number of products. Given the transformation of the global economy, Segezha sees significant potential in increasing business with Uzbek enterprises.

Segezha Group is a vertically integrated international timber holding company uniting the logging and timber processing assets of Sistema JSFC .
