National Bank of Ukraine raises int'l reserves forecast for end-2024 to $43.4 bln

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - The National Bank of Ukraine has raised its international reserves forecast for the end of 2024 to $43.4 billion from $40.4 billion, and its 2025 forecast to $44.3 billion from $42.1 billion.

"The risk of insufficient international financing this year has eased considerably, but the risks to regular financing remain," Ukrainian media reported, quoting an NBU press release on Thursday.

The NBU said Ukraine received $9 billion from international partners in March, enabling the country to increase its international reserves to almost $44 billion.

Also, in the last few days, Ukraine has received positive news from the United States about the approval of the military and financial assistance package, and it has also received another tranche from the EU amounting to 1.5 billion euros.

"In view of this, Ukraine can count on receiving $38 billion in external budgetary support this year," the NBU said.

According to the revised forecast, the current account deficit this year has been increased from $16.9 billion to $20.2 billion, but the outlook for 2025 has improved to $18.2 billion from $19.8 billion.
