Azerbaijan does not supply weapons to Ukraine despite requests - Aliyev

BAKU. April 25 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan does not and will not supply weapons to Ukraine, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"We do not supply weapons to Ukraine, even though we've been asked, but we cannot. We say it openly and publicly, and we will not. Humanitarian assistance, yes. Weapons, no," Aliyev said at a meeting with participants in the COP29 and Green Vision for Azerbaijan international forum.

Azerbaijani humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine has exceeded 30 million euros, he said. "We are participating in the reconstruction in the city of Irpen, where there is a big Azerbaijani diaspora, and many social infrastructure is being restored by Azerbaijan. Nothing more," Aliyev said.

He described the current events in Ukraine as a great tragedy. "Was there a chance to avoid the war? I think, yes. Was there a chance for Ukrainian leaders in previous years to build normal relations with Russia? I'm absolutely sure that yes," Aliyev said.
