UK, Germany to coordinate efforts to help Ukraine

LONDON. April 24 (Interfax) - British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have agreed to coordinate and intensify the efforts to help Ukraine, according to a joint statement released following a meeting.

"Today we have agreed on coordinating and intensifying our efforts and evaluating potential for joint projects," the statement published on the British government's website on Wednesday said.

Specifically, the countries plan to work together on assistance concerning Ukrainian helicopters. "In particular, we will cooperate on our support of Ukrainian helicopters, including armament, maintenance and training," Sunak and Scholz said.

According to the statement, the leaders believe their support for Ukraine should focus on air defense, drones, artillery, munitions, construction of fortifications, and training Ukrainian personnel.

Sunak held talks with Scholz in Berlin on Wednesday.
