Russian, N. Korean ministers agree on cooperation in healthcare

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) -Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and his North Korean counterpart Jong Mu-rim have agreed on bilateral cooperation in healthcare and medical education, the Russian Health Ministry's press service said.

"The ministers have initialed an agreement between the Russian and North Korean governments on cooperation in healthcare, medical education and science," the press service said.

Murashko reaffirmed Russia's readiness for cooperation with North Korea in various aspects of healthcare, including medical personnel training and medical tourism. North Korean medical personnel can be trained and professionally develop in Russia, and North Korean citizens can be treated at Russian healthcare establishments, the press service said.

A delegation of the North Korean Health Ministry visited the Russian Health Ministry's Blokhin National Cancer Research Center. It expressed an interest in developing bilateral relations in this area, procuring cancer drugs made by the Naukoprofi Research and Production Center, and providing education and training of cancer specialists at the center.

The delegation also visited the Priorov National Medical Research Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics, the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, and the Pirogov Medical University.
