Azerbaijan, Armenia closer to signing peace agreement than ever before - Aliyev

BAKU. April 23 (Interfax) - Baku and Yerevan need to address the details of a peace agreement, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

Now, we have common understanding how the peace agreement should look like. We only need to address the details, but, of course, both sides need time," Aliyev said at a meeting with participants in the COP29 and Green Vision for Azerbaijan forum in Baku on Tuesday.

"I think that we are close, and maybe close as never before," he said.

According to Aliyev, it is realistic for Baku and Yerevan to agree on the basic principles of the peace agreement before the COP29 conference to be hosted by Azerbaijan in November 2024.

The sides could also agree on the basic principles first and then address the details of the agreement, he said.
