Kyrgyzstan declares state of emergency over mudslide in another region

BISHKEK. April 23 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan has declared a state of emergency due to the danger from a mudslide in the Talas district of the Talas region, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

"A mudslide has descended in the Talas district. A state of emergency has been declared in the district to clean up the flood aftermath," it said.

Mudslides have partially flooded the villages of Ak-Jar in the Ken-Kul rural district, Kok-Kashat in the Besh-Tash rural district, and Kara-Suu in the Chon-Alysh rural district, causing damage to 250 houses, backyards, local roads, and a bridge.

Mudslides earlier prompted Kyrgyzstan to declare a state of emergency in the Osh district. One person was killed.
