MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax) - China boosted imports of Russian buckwheat 7.8-fold year-on-year to 37,000 tonnes in January-February 2024, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport center said, citing data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.

Supplies surged 6.1-fold to $15 million in value terms.

Agroexport said that Russia has been the only supplier of buckwheat to China since 2021.

Agroexport estimates that Russia has the potential to export $100 million worth of buckwheat to China by 2030.

Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) data indicate that Russia harvested 1.48 million tonnes of buckwheat in 2023 versus 1.2 million tonnes in 2022.
