Ukrainian Railways lifts restrictions on transportation to port of Chornomorsk

MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) has lifted temporary restrictions on the transportation of goods by rail bound for the port of Chernomorsk (Odessa region), Ukrainian media reported citing the company's website.

As previously reported, railway tracks leading to some of the grain terminals in the port of Chornomorsk were damaged on April 11. Ukrainian Railways introduced conventional restrictions on the transportation of goods from April 11 to 13, extended them again from April 14 to 17, and yet again for the period from April 18 to 22. The ban on the transportation of goods applied to the Chornomorsk-Port and Chornomorsk-Port-Export stations.

Chornomorsk is a universal international port; one of the largest on the Black Sea. It unites specialized terminals and complexes that allow for the transshipment of a wide range of cargo: liquid, bulk, and general. The annual design capacity of the port before the start of the military operation on the territory of Ukraine was over 30 million tonnes.
