Zelensky hoping to sign security agreement with U.S. in May-June

MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax) - Ukraine may sign a bilateral security agreement with the United States in the coming months, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"As for bilateral security agreements, we already have nine of them. We are close to concluding an important agreement with the United States," Ukrainian media cited Zelensky as saying in an interview with Brazilian journalists published on Saturday.

According to Zelensky, such security agreements envisage military support, humanitarian issues, and assistance to restoration processes and the energy sector.

"The bilateral agreements cover the entire scope of assistance. For example, the annual allocation of 7 billion to Ukraine from Germany is very serious. What is more, there are various kinds of support. We have a number of agreements, and I think we will conclude them with both the United States and North [European] countries in May-June. The support will be huge. We are preparing for deals with Sweden and Norway," Zelensky said.

"We are also close to doing so with our partners from Baltic countries. I believe the result will be achieved with one of the countries as early as in April," he said.
