Switzerland plans to provide CHF 5 bln to Ukraine over 12 years

MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - The Swiss authorities plan to allocate CHF 5 billion as part of long-term support for Ukraine over 12 years, Ukrainian media said, citing Switzerland's Federal Council.

"As a first step, around CHF 1.5 billion is to be drawn from the international cooperation budget by 2028," the Federal Council said in a statement.

For the 2029-36 period, the Federal Council also intends to look into other sources (beyond international cooperation) from which to draw the remaining CHF 3.5 billion, it said.

The Federal Council also ordered drawing up a joint Ukraine country program that includes the appropriate oversight mechanisms and establishing how the Ukraine country program is to be implemented in strategic terms.
