Russian fishermen boost catch 2.6% to 1.7 mln tonnes as of April 15 - federal fisheries agency

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Russian fishermen had boosted catches 2.6% year-on-year to 1.702 million tonnes as of April 15, Russian Federal Fisheries Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) said.

Rosrybolovstvo data indicate that Russian anglers saw catches drop 47.4% year-on-year to 69,749 tonnes of aquatic biological resources in the period in the exclusive economic zones of foreign countries, convention areas and the world's open seas.

Russian anglers caught 5.3 million tonnes of fish in 2023 versus 4.9 million tonnes in 2022, thereby setting a record for the past 30 years.
