Azerbaijan willing to accept up to 2.2 mln tonnes of Kazakh oil per year for subsequent transportation - Kazakh Energy Ministry

ASTANA. April 18 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have reached agreement on a gradual increase in supplies of Kazakh oil, with Baku ready to accept up to 2.2 million tonnes for subsequent transportation, the Kazakh Energy Ministry said in a commentary.

"KazMunayGas and SOCAR [state Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic] signed an agreement in March 2024 on a gradual increase in transit of Kazakh oil via Azerbaijan. Following talks, Azerbaijan expressed a willingness to increase acceptance of Kazakh oil to 2.2 million tonnes annually," the ministry said.

KazMunayGas and SOCAR have come up with a road map to increase transit of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan. They have also agreed to transport an annual 1.5 million tonnes of Kazakh oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
