Canada to provide additional assistance package to Ukraine in 2024

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Canada will provide an additional assistance package to Ukraine in 2024, and 2.4 billion Canadian dollars will replenish the Ukrainian budget, Ukrainian media said, citing a statement by Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Yulia Kovaliv on a social network.

Out of 2.4 billion, 2 billion Canadian dollars have been transferred through the IMF special account, and the rest will be transferred in the coming months, Kovaliv said.

The allocations have various goals, she said. For instance, 1.6 billion Canadian dollars are allotted under the new five-year military assistance program based on the security agreement, signed in Kiev on February 24, 2024.

Some 216.7 million Canadian dollars will be transferred via the EBRD to finance Ukraine recovery projects, and 76 million Canadian dollars will support peace and security projects in Ukraine, Kovaliv said.
