EEC simplifies import and export rules for precious metals

ASTANA. April 16 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has streamlined regulations governing the import and export of precious metals and related raw materials.

According to the EEC trade division, goods containing precious metals weighing less than 2% are now exempt from regulation.

Additionally, acknowledging the viability of electronic documentation, copies of export licenses and product specifications may substitute originals for state control purposes. Requirements for documentation on processing goods outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) customs territory are waived for goods undergoing repair, among other changes.

"These changes aim to liberalize the import and export of select precious metal categories, simplify state control procedures, streamline documentation requirements for foreign trade participants, and implement uniform non-tariff regulations for identical goods," Director of the EEC's Customs and Tariff Regulation Department Vahagn Kazaryan said.

The decision will take effect 30 calendar days after its official publication.
