Ukrainian finance minister meets important figures at IMF, WB spring session in Washington

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko had a number of meetings in Washington on the first day of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) and the World Bank Group's Spring Meetings held on April 15 to 20, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to Marchenko's social media post.

"Have started with important meetings with key partners, representatives of the U.S. government and the White House. Jay Shambaugh, under secretary of the Treasury; Daleep Singh, [former] deputy national security advisor for international economics; Jose Fernandez, under secretary of state for economic growth; Scott Nathan, CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC)," he said.

The U.S. has provided Ukraine with about $23 billion in budget support since February 2022, he said.

"However, Ukrainians need this support to continue, and we hope for the United States' leadership here," he said.

Marchenko said he expected U.S. Congress members to endorse a 2024 aid package for Ukraine as soon as possible.
