United States imposes sanctions against 12 Belarusian companies, 10 individuals

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - The United States Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added 10 individuals and 12 legal entities of Belarus to the sanctions list, the department posted on its website on Monday.

"Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is designating 12 entities and 10 individuals pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 14038," the department said.

The department has clarified that the decision is being implemented in response to the results of the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus, as well as the republic's support for Russia's actions in Ukraine.

OJSC AGAT-Control Systems-Managing Company of Geo-information Control Systems Holding (AGAT), which is a state-owned enterprise that specifically sells control systems for the Belarusian Armed Forces, industrial computers, navigation, and video surveillance systems, has been included in the sanctions list, as well as four enterprises within the holding's structure.
