KazTransOil pumped 75,000 tonnes of Russian oil to Uzbekistan in Q1

ASTANA. April 15 (Interfax) - KazTransOil transported 75,000 tonnes of Russian oil through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan in January-March 2024 via the Omsk-Pavlodar-Shymkent pipeline, the company said.

KazTransOil will pump 50,000 tonnes of Russia oil through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan in April.

The company started pumping Russian oil through its pipeline network to Uzbekistan in 2017. The volume of transit oil shipments that year totaled 67,900 tonnes. In 2018, it decreased to 35,800 tonnes. In 2019-2022, Russian oil was not shipped through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. KazTransOil transported 154,300 tonnes of Russia oil to Uzbekistan in 2023.

It was reported earlier that KazTransOil planned to triple the transit of Russia oil through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan to 500,000 tonnes in 2024. Sanoat Energetika Guruhi from Uzbekistan placed a request with JSC KazTransOil for the transportation of 500,000 tonnes of Russian oil to Uzbekistan in 2024, with an option to increase this to 1 million tonnes, Abay Beisembayev, the director of KazTransOil's transportation department, said in late November 2023.

KazTransOil, part of National Company KazMunayGas, is the national operator of oil pipelines in Kazakhstan. The company owns and operates oil pipelines of about 5,400 km in length.
