Pumping transit oil via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan surges 37% in Q1 - State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan

BAKU. April 15 (Interfax) - The volume of oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline rose 0.3% year-on-year to about 7.267 million tonnes in January-March 2024, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan said.

Azerbaijani oil accounted for 80.7%, or nearly 5.867 million tonnes, a decrease of 5.7%.

The share of transit oil, particularly from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, totaled 19.3%, or about 1.4 million tonnes, an increase of 37.2%.

The data indicate that 75.2% of the overall volume of oil transported through Azerbaijan's main oil pipelines was pumped through the BTC in the first quarter.
