MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - The Russian telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor has blocked the online media outlet Polit.ru in Russia for repeatedly publishing false socially important information, the regulator's press service told Interfax.
"Access to this [online] resource has been restricted on a permanent basis under Article 15.3-2 of Law N149-FZ "On Information, Information Technology and Protection of Information" for multiple publications of false socially important information aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in the Russian Federation," a representative of the press service said.
According to information from the watchdog's universal service for checking websites and webpages blocked in Russia, access to the website Polit.ru, the Russian internet publication, has been restricted in the country.
Access to the Polit.ru website is currently unavailable in Russia, an Interfax correspondent confirmed.
Launched in February 1998, Polit.ru was one of the first socio-political online publications registered as mass media in Russia.
