Ukrainian Railways extends restrictions on all rail cargo traffic to Chernomorsk

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia, UZ) has extended the conventional restrictions on transportation of all cargo by rail to the Chernomorsk port.

The temporary ban on cargo transportation applies to the Chenomorsk-Port and Chernomorsk-Port-Export stations, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the company's website.

As reported, the restrictions were in effect on April 11-13. Therefore, they were extended for April 14-17.

Media outlets noted that the restrictions are due to damage of the access railways to certain grain terminals of the Chernomorsk port. Experts believe that the halt in the grain terminals' operations may cut Ukrainian grain exports by the Black Sea to 5 million tonnes in April, compared to 8 million tonnes previously expected.
