Ukrainian finance minister expects Business Advisory Council to be set up before Donor Coordination Platform's meeting in June

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - The Multi-agency Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine will receive advisory support from a Business Advisory Council (BAC), which is expected to be set up before the platform's next meeting in June, Ukrainian media quoted Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko as saying following a meeting of the platform's Steering Committee in Kiev on Wednesday.

"This Business Advisory Council would include representatives from the countries participating in the platform, among them Ukraine, which would actually provide advisory support to the platform and its participants. Its role is precisely such. This would concern both drawing investment and pursuing reforms and the necessary changes that the business community believes need to be accomplished," Marchenko said while explaining the BAC's concept.

The BAC's establishment has been initiated jointly by the United States and Germany, Marchenko said.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said the BAC's establishment would facilitate the creation of a favorable environment for the private sector's growth in Ukraine.

"The Council will serve as a platform for dialogue and cooperation between government institutions, the business community, and other parties concerned," media quoted Sviridenko's statement circulated by the Economy Ministry.
