Ukrgazvydobuvannya commissions fifth high-yield gas well of current year

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - JSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya (UGV) has commissioned its fifth high-yield gas well of the current year with a daily flow of around 140,000 cubic meters, Ukrainian media reported, quoting the Naftogaz of Ukraine press service.

The new well is 2,350 meters deep. It was drilled at a partially depleted field in eastern Ukraine.

UGV has already planned its next production well in this part of the field.

"To increase production, we are using new technologies, speeding up drilling and optimizing logistics. Ukraine will have to get through the heating season using its own gas next year, as in the previous winter," said Alexei Chernyshov, the head of Naftogaz.

UGV commissioned 86 new wells, 24 of them with an initial daily flow rate of more than 100,000 cubic meters, in 2023. It launched a new exploration well with daily gas flow of 250,000 cubic meters per day at the beginning of January, another two new wells with combined daily gas flow of 550,000 cubic meters per day in February and a well with initial daily flow of 400,000 cubic meters in March.

UGV's saleable gas production fell 3% to 12.5 billion cubic meters in 2022. UGV produced 13.224 bcm of saleable gas in 2023, up 679 mcm from 2022.

Naftogaz owns 100% of UGV.
