Specialists from Russia and Belarus to conduct joint inspections of foreign agriculture product suppliers

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Specialists from Russia and Belarus plan to work together to expand sales markets for agricultural products, as well as conduct general inspections of foreign producers interested in supplying products to EAEU countries, Rosselkhoznadzor said following talks between agency head Sergei Dankvert and Belarusian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, and Director of the Ministry's Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision, Ivan Smilgin.

"The mutual opening of markets for the two countries' agricultural products and joint inspections of foreign enterprises interested in supplying goods to EAEU member countries were specific topics of negotiation," the statement said.

In addition, the negotiations touched on the need for interdepartmental research work. In this regard, Belarusian specialists will visit Rosselkhoznadzor's Federal Center for Animal Health to exchange experience.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that Belarus is currently the largest importer of Russian pork, having received 77,300 tonnes from Russia in 2023. Moreover, the Argus-Fito Federal Information System shows that feed and feed additives, fish and seafood, and watermelons are also exported to Belarus. Belarus exports dairy products, poultry, beef, fish products and carrots to Russia.

Dankvert and Smilgin emphasized the specific importance of the continuous support for bilateral trade and business partnership between Russia and Belarus.
