Ukrenergo transfers surplus electricity to Poland in emergency on Tues

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - NEC Ukrenergo, the transmission system operator, transferred surplus electricity to Poland totaling 1,071 MWh in an emergency on Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Ukrainian Energy Ministry as saying on social media.

Ukrenergo also limited the electricity production from renewable energy sources by 13,631 MWh on Tuesday due to the sunny weather and, accordingly, active power generation, which is 1.6 times more than on Monday, it said.

At the same time, outage schedules continue to be imposed in the Kharkov region due to grid restrictions. Besides, on Tuesday evening the equipment at a high-voltage power substation in the Poltava region was switched off, as a result of which household consumers of distribution system operators in this region and neighboring Kharkov region, industry, railroad with disruption of train traffic have been cut off from electricity for an hour.

Overall, Ukraine's power system is operating in a stable and balanced manner, the Energy Ministry said.

The electricity imports have dropped by 4.5 times to 400 MWh, while exports are also expected to be insignificant, but their volumes are not specified (they have been as high as 350-400 MWh in recent days).

On April 8, during the peak evening hours of electricity consumption, emergency supplies of 800 MWh of electricity from Poland, Romania and Slovakia have been made for two hours at Ukrenergo's request.
