Ukraine boosts output of rolled steel, steel over 33% YoY in Q1 2024

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Ukraine's metals enterprises ramped up output of general rolled products 35.5% year-on-year to 1.389 million tonnes in Q1 2024 from 1.025 million tonnes in Q1 2023, Ukrainian media reported, citing materials from the Ukrmetallurgprom steel association.

Ukrmetallurgprom said that steel production surged 36.6% year-on-year to 1.687 million tonnes in Q1 2024 from 1.235 million tonnes in Q1 2023, and pig iron output rose 32.1% year-on-year to 1.589 million tonnes from 1.203 million tonnes, respectively.

As reported, Ukraine boosted production of general rolled steel 0.4% year-on-year to 5.372 million tonnes in 2023, though cut output of steel 0.6% year-on-year to 6.228 million tonnes and pig iron 6.1% year-on-year to 6.003 million tonnes, respectively, in the reporting period.
