Ukrenergo requests emergency assistance on Monday - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - The Ukrenergo Transmission System Operator requested emergency supply of 800MW/h of electricity from Poland, Romania and Slovakia for two peak hours on Monday evening, Ukrainian media said, citing a statement by the Energy Ministry on a social network.

The power grid had a surplus on Monday afternoon, and 699MW/h of electricity were exported to Poland, the media said. In addition, the sunny weather and abundant generation by renewable energy plants made the operator limit such generation to 8,531MW/h.

On Tuesday, electricity imports grew almost six times to 1,781MW/h, while exports remained practically unchanged and amounted to the insignificant 345 MW/h, same as on Monday.

Meanwhile, network restrictions on Ukrenergo power transmission lines caused the continuation of scheduled power outages in the Kharkov region.

The Energy Ministry also said that power supply to the railway and industrial facilities disrupted by technical failures at a high-voltage substation in the Lvov region (which did not disrupt rail service) was resumed within an hour.
