Ukrainian Border Service updates border crossing statistics

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - The number of people who departed Ukraine over the week from March 30 to April 5, 2024 declined to 232,000 from 270,000 a week before, while the number of those who crossed into Ukraine in this period declined to 252,000 from 268,000 week on week, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Border Service's social media post.

The number of vehicles cleared to cross the border decreased for the first time in the past six weeks to 117,000 from 131,000 a week before, including the number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid decreasing to 595 from 785.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's data as of March 14, 2024, the number of Ukrainian refugees across the world was estimated at 6.486 million (6,000 more than a month before), including 5.983 million in European countries outside of Ukraine, (21,000 fewer than a month before).

Inside Ukraine, according to the UN data as of December 31, 2023, there were 3.689 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), up 15,000 from November 2023.
