Demand for imported vehicles soars by almost 50% in Ukraine in March - Ukravtoprom

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - Over 21,000 imported second-hand vehicles were registered in Ukraine in March 2024, which is almost 1.5 times more than in March 2023, Ukrainian media said, citing an Ukravtoprom statement on a social network.

As reported, the registration of imported second-hand cars grew by a third year-on-year to 17,800 in February 2024.

The association added that 6,700 new vehicles were registered in March (up 50%).

Gasoline cars continued to constitute the largest share in the segment of imported second-hand cars (48%), followed by diesel vehicles (25%), electric vehicles (16%), compressed gas vehicles (6%) and hybrids (5%).

Volkswagen Golf topped the list of imported second-hand cars with 1,146 registrations.

The top 10 most popular models also included Renault Megane (969), Skoda Octavia (763), Volkswagen Passat (653). Nissan Leaf (546), Volkswagen Tiguan (544), Nissan Rogue (523), Audi Q5 (477), Tesla Model 3 (456), and Audi A4 (401).

The average age of used cars that switched to Ukrainian license plates in February 2024 was 9.4 years.

In total, 55,500 imported second-hand cars were registered in Ukraine for the first time in January-March, up 42% from the respective period of 2023.

As reported, the demand for imported second-hand cars grew 6% in Ukraine in March 2023, compared to March 2022, to 14,200 vehicles, and Renault Megane was the most popular vehicle (1,105).

Registrations of such cars decreased by 45% in 2023, compared to 2022, to 214,400.
