Russian Prime Minister Mishustin notes Internet economy growth in his congratulations on Runet's 30th anniversary

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Internet economy grew by a third last year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in his congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the day of the official registration of the .ru national top-level domain.

"The national top-level domain .ru was officially registered on this day in 1994. It became the key one in the history of the formation and further development of the Russian Internet," the premier said in his congratulations posted on the government's website on Sunday.

"Despite the unprecedented pressure of sanctions, the digital industry is demonstrating a stable and sustainable growth. Our own software solutions, services and online platforms, capable of competing effectively with their foreign analogues and replacing them on the domestic market, are being created. And, according to preliminary estimates of experts, the Russian Internet economy grow by a third last year," Mishustin said.

The Runet today is one of the largest segments of the Internet, he said. It is a unique ecosystem with thousands of accredited IT companies, over five millions of registered domain names, and the daily audience of over hundred million, and this figures are growing every year, he said.

"The government is continuing to work on the digital transformation of the social sector and state management. About 110 million people currently use the Gosuslugi website alone. It is an opportunity to receive state services without leaving one's home, in a fast and convenient manner," Mishustin said.
