Legal entity of St. Petersburg Scania, Man truck assembly plant liquidated

ST. PETERSBURG. April 8 (Interfax) - The legal entity of the St. Petersburg plant that assembled trucks under European brands Scania and Man, Truck Producer Rus LLC has been liquidated.

The company, which was registered at the beginning of 2016, ceased operations on April 1, data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities showed.

Truck Production Rus was equally owned by Man Truck & Bus Production Rus LLC and Scania Peter LLC, the Russian subsidiaries of, respectively, Man and Scania, which are part of Traton Group, the truck division of German automaker Volkswagen. Scania and Man said after the start of the military operation in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions against Russia that they had transferred their main Russian assets to local investors.

The St. Petersburg plant had capacity to assemble 7,500 Scania and 6,000 Man trucks per year. However, in the last few years before the crisis the plant produced fewer than 1,000 trucks annually.
