Asian Development Bank considers 2024 projects in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE. April 5 (Interfax) - Asian Development Bank (ADB) representatives in Tajikistan have discussed the Tajik government's participation in the upcoming ADB annual meeting in Tbilisi and a number of projects planned for this year, the ADB Resident Mission in Tajikistan said.

The sides also discussed replenishing the Asian Development Fund, the status of ADB projects being prepared for approval in 2024, and Tajikistan's plans for COP29 in Baku, it said.

ADB Country Director Shanny Campbell, Tajik First Deputy Prime Minister, ADB Governor Hokim Kholiqzoda, and Chairman of the Tajik State Committee on Investment and State Property Management, ADB Alternate Governor Sulton Rahimzoda attended the meeting.

Kholiqzoda lauded the years-long cooperation between the ADB and Tajikistan and underlined the bank's support for climate initiatives.

Representatives of key ministries, executive agencies, project centers and project teams of the ADB in Tajikistan finalized the annual review of the bank's project portfolio for Tajikistan in mid-March.

The performance of the 2023 portfolio targets was satisfactory, as 13 projects, which account for 87% of the total portfolio, "are on schedule," two projects, or 23%, "need attention," and no projects "are at risk," the bank said.
