Power consumption caps imposed in 6 other Ukrainian regions on Thurs evening

MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - The operations control center of the Ukrenergo power grid operator had to temporarily limit electricity consumption in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Poltava and Sumy regions and in the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions from 6:20 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday.

"The reason for the caps was the absence of a sufficient amount of generation capacity in the system to cover the needs in certain regions of the country," Ukrainian media quoted Ukrenergo as saying in a statement.

These power consumption caps are moderate, the company said. The regions' power grid operators will evenly distribute the available amount of electricity.

Power consumption caps also remain in force in the Kharkov region and for industrial consumers in the city of Krivoi Rog, Ukrenergo said.
